Guest Picard Posted February 6, 2005 Report Posted February 6, 2005 Got a 1996 ford galaxy, it has run a dream since we bought it in 1999, until 5 months ago. i got in the car one morning and it started and then cut out again. it refused to start after playing with the obvious. I walked to work and tried it upon my return, this time it started and i thought i must of flooded it. Sadly i was wrong and it failed again. So off it went to a local none ford dealer and he found it to be the relay and fuse box, which had melted due to one of the relays not making good contact. Replaced the whole lot Quote
Topbloke Posted February 6, 2005 Report Posted February 6, 2005 when it don't start can you here the fuel pump running either when you just put the ignition on (only runs for a few seconds) or while cranking, you should here a high pitch buzz, the only other suggestion would be a crankshaft position sensor not easy to diagnose unless you are a keen amature ! pm me if you are up for it. galaxychap Posted February 6, 2005 Report Posted February 6, 2005 I had that problem with my previous car (ford granada 2.0 dohc) and it was the cps i would get that checked first . Leon Quote

Masked Marauder Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 Perhaps the hooked it up to the computer and it found a fault to the door wiring as well as the relay problem. Quote

7up Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 Sounds like the same problem as mine, coming home the car cut out.Turned the key and it would start and run,but as soon as you pulled away it would cut out and the glow plug light would flash. It went to Fords and it was all down to a corroded wirer.....cost Quote
Guest Picard Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 Ok the problem was relay 30 (ignition system). as for the door wire problem, well they said my wife must of misunderstood them..err ok i can live with that. Ok so if your Ford Galaxy 2.0 lt peccky dont start check relay 30, when you turn the key it will click 2 times, if it don't its knackered, evemn if it clicks once, its still knackered. this is advice from a local non ford garage who managed to fix it and i did not. Hope this helps. Quote
